Champagne Charlie

Tommy Trinder, Stanley Holloway, Betty Warren, Jean Kent, Harry Fowler

released: 1944 Aug 25   duration: 1:40:41

United Kingdom. With London of the 1860s and the gaslit music halls providing the locale, most of the first half of the film is taken up with either Tommy Trinder or Stanley Holloway singing songs. The plot concerns a feud between two music halls and, then, their joint efforts to keep from being closed by municipal authorities. Supporting the two singing stars are Betty Warren, owner of one of the music halls, her daughter, Jean Kent, who is in love with a nobleman, and Harry Fowler as a backstage assistant.

At 1:25:57, a man and a woman run out on stage and juggle 3 clubs each and pass 3 or 6 clubs, though sometimes a plate replaces one of the clubs, as seen on and off for just over 4 minutes.
